weekend inspiration - leo lionni

my biggest creative inspiration comes from children's book illustrations...i love the simplicity, the splashes of bright color, the techniques, the sweet stories.  it is eventually where i see myself...

since my repertoire is limited to books released during my childhood...the 70's, i've decided to start researching various illustrators and story writers and post those that inspire me.

inspiration no 1:  leo lionni.  i own his first children's book little blue and little yellow that was released in 1959, but i never knew much about his work beyond that.  like most classic children's book writers that i've read about, he was amazingly successful in several other pursuits before he published his first children's book at 49.

the random house site has his inspiring bio...
